Damijan Podversic – Vinitaly 2015

Nekaj 2011
Oily rich syrupy beeswax aromatics, still some fresh florals. Warm concentrated, savoury and sweet texture, long rich bold.

Malvasia 2011
Slightly more honeyed with some peach and mango, just not tropical. Lithe texture, silky on the palate, broad but focused, saline caramel elements.

Kaplja 2011
Darker in colour, quieter in aromatics. Smoother founder but denser and fuller, well contained.

Ribolla Gialla 2011
Dense earthy deep nutty notes. Much richer sweeter texture, creamy almost, quite different to 2009, very open and supple.

Rosso Prelit 2011
Nice savoury dusty subtle dark fruits. Lovely and fresh, good depth of fruit and tannin, just a hint of sweetness on the back.

Il Mosnel – Vinitaly 2015

EBB 2010
A little sharper and pithier than the 2009, nice focus, more integrated barrel characters. Needs time but more potential.

Pas Rosé 2009
Deep ruby freshness, very soft silky texture, delicate bead, quite savoury, some very subtle mushroom notes. Quite crunchy though.

Borgo Molino – Vinitaly 2015

NV Motivo Rosé
Very bright fresh red fruits, plenty of fruit sweetness, good acidity to support, it’s more rosé in colour rather than wine as the glera dominates the palate. Pretty lovely wine though.

2014 Motivo Prosecco DOC
Tighter leaner on the palate, quite crisp, very dry, a bit of texture, the glera is a bit more subdued in this. A much drier style of prosecco.

NV Valdobbiadene DOCG
Quieter cleaner on the palate, unctuous on the palate, bight and crunchy, R/S well integrated, fresh bright. Not quite good enough for the price.

Cuvee Extra Dry
Crunchier tighter more mouth puckering but still very focused, a bit drier, the glera is well tamed by the manzoni bianco, but it is also a little less expressive.

09 Millesimato Brut 2014
Pure quiet elegance, very dry but lacking in the palate a bit, sharp and a little awkward, not as good as the others. Prefer the Extra Dry wines. Perhaps just a bit young.

Prosecco Frizzante
Actually quite pleasant, very fresh, nice and lean, bubbles fade quite quickly, great for spritz. Very very easy to drink, quite good for the price.

Corte delle Rose
Very delicate light spritz perfect for spritz drinks, under screw cap may mess with people’s head a bit. Needs more research, also needs soda water with the aperol. Enough fruit though, actually a pretty lovely wine on its own.

Darker more brooding forest fruits, showing red earth characters. Fresh bold crunchy vibrant great.

Rotondo 2012
More crunchy bold intense savoury leathery oak tannins exceptionally well-integrated, very long, just a great red wine.

Don Anselmo 2010
A lot more subtle closed complex concentrated dense built from cement.

Cantina Frentana – Vinitaly 2015

Frentano Trebbiano 2014
Touch of bottle shock, bright light and fresh, solid as expected.

Cococciolo 2014
A bit of bite on the front, very very crunchy bitter.

Organic Trebbiano 2014
Nice, a lot fuller and more textured on the palate, more personality.

Organic Pecorino 2014
Very interesting nose, quite ripe fruit sweet, almost sherbety, candied fresh bananas, very compelling lots of personality.

Terre Valse Montepulciano 2013
Earthier more savoury notes on the nose, nice tight robust tannins, quite fresh and round, full in the mouth.

Organic Montepulciano 2013
Bright and intense, vibrant yet crunchy, nice depth and length, good concentration and a bit of fruit sweetness.

Costa del Mulino Montepulciano 2012
A touch more closed on the nose, but still very vibrant and fresh, juicy jumping fruit sweetness. Wowsers lots going on. Good texture too.

Rubesto Montepulciano Riserva 2011
Intense yet subdued, showing some oaky tones over the top of the fruit, but not aggressive, just slightly dulling the fruit for my palate.

Panarda Montepulciano Riserva 2010
Oak definitely sitting over everything in this wine, tight tight tannins from the grape but more so the oak. More international style, doesn’t mean we won’t sell it.

Monrose Rosé 2014
Very elegant bright subtle on the nose, just a hint of raspberries but more in the floral area. Very fresh on the palate, light but expressive, more like a white wine really.

Botonero 2013
Much quieter now but quite subtle too, clean and good red fruits. Tight but approachable, excellent quaffer, broadens out on the back a bit.

Santa Rita Rosso di Valtellina 2012
A bit brighter on the nose, more vibrant, more concentration and focus on the palate.

Bolder fuller and more intense, a slightly bigger wine but still quite elegant.

San Lorenzo 2011
Earthier much more savoury nose, dense and brooding. Swift and bright.

Riserva 2010
Quite a sweet fruit profile but intense and bold, a bit of warmth and concentration in this one.

Corte di Cama 2011
More lifted aromatics, actually a super fresh palate but initial warmth, finishes soft and supple.

Albareda 2011
Warmer broader and more intense on the palate, less freshness of fruit, more earthy power and sinew.

Albareda 2002
Tannins still very prominent and not showing signs of slowing down, development on the nose but still very tight on the palate.

Falesco – Vinitaly 2015

Le Pòggere 2014
A bit soapy at first, but showing the same crispness and focus. Bright a bit candied from the malvasia, nice freshness of acidity from the traminer, and a bit of crunch from the roschetto.

Vitiano Bianco 2014
Nice subtle floral notes, a bit of melon lychee. Very fresh on the palate, not bright and crunchy, more textural and round, lovely wine. I like it.

Tellus Oro 2014
Kind of an oiliness on the nose, quite rich on the palate but still very fresh, with some fruit sweetness as well.

Soente Viognier 2014
Very viognier like, but not fat or rich, quite lean tight and focused. Actually a very good example!

Ferentano 2012
Creamy caramel nutty notes, round sweet texture, creaminess with some ripe stone fruits.

Vitiano Rosato 2014
Nice and bright, lovely fresh strawberries, sweet fruit textures, quite a bit riper than the 2012, but very very drinkable.

Vitiano Rosso 2013
A nice crunchiness on the nose, quite sweet in dark fruits, soft and mellow but a good amount of freshness on the palate. Really good.

Poggere Rosso 2013
Has that crunchy tight spicy impression, but now a bit fuller and rounder on the palate, still a good amount of freshness and drive though.

Vitiano Cabernet 2012
It’s fine.

Tellus Syrah 2013
Nice subtle herbal note, good intensity of tannin, very vibrant and fresh, a great drinking wine.

Trentanni 2012
Solid, very solid. Very good freshness, at least oak isn’t getting in the way and complicating things.

Montiano 2012
Super tight tannins need plenty of time to soften up and open out, but good balanced acidity will keep this wine living a long time.

Marciliano 2011
It’s pretty good, but Montiano is better.

R2 Sagrantino di Montefalco 2009
Tannins, it’s got plenty of them…

Paterna – Vinitaly 2015

Il Terraio 2014
Quite lean and mineral. A bit nervous at the moment but you can see the structure there, outstanding texture. A winner.

Chianti 2013
Really bright and vibrant, intense florals, very pretty and approachable. Solid mouthfeel, a bit more tannin structure, more density.

Vignanova 2007
Showing the oak in a lovely way, nice development better than Chianti Riserva. Lovely tight savoury tannins. Wonderful concentration with plenty of acidity.

Vignanova 2008
A little bit lore dense and closed, oak not as prominent on the nose. Lighter but more focused. Less developed, more time is ideal.

Pugni Rosso 2011
Settled down a lot since last June, much more savoury notes, good intensity of tannin.

Pugni Rosso 2012
Leaner tighter less intensity of tannin, perhaps a bit early.
