Let’s Taste – Deviation Road Loftia Vintage Brut 2013 & Altair Brut Rosé NV

The guys from Deviation Road sent me two of their Sparkling Wines to taste, no doubt in the lead up to the Festive Season. They are experts in methode traditionelle sparkling wines, and these two perfectly exhibit that. The wines are the Loftia Vintage Brut 2013 (RRP $45.00) and the Altair Brut Rosé NV (RRP $32.00). Here are my impressions!

Let’s Taste – Azahara Sparkling Chardonnay PN & Katnook Founder’s Block Sparkling Shiraz 2013

The guys from the Wingara Wine Group sent me a few bottles of bubbles in the lead up to the Spring Racing Carnival to see what I thought of them. Unfortunately I couldn’t taste them until I got back from Italy, which happened to be DURING the Spring Racing Carnival. The wines were the Azahara Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir NV (RRP $15.00) and the Katnook Estate Founder’s Block Sparkling Shiraz 2013 (RRP $25.00). Check out my impressions!

The Vincast with Alex Head from Head Wines

Alex Head discovered a love and fascination of wine whilst studying sciences at Sydney University. After travelling on a gastronomic journey across Europe he was hooked. Many years were spent in iconic Sydney wine retail, before a tenure at Langton’s. This experience led a sea-change to the Barossa where he eventually established Head Wines. In the past almost ten years he was forged a reputation for producing some of the most exciting wines in the region, particularly those from Rhone Valley varieties.

Let’s Taste – Charles Melton Nine Popes 2005

As I was tasting my other bottle of Charles Melton Nine Popes 2005 from my cellar, I thought I would also show you how to open a bottle of wine sealed under a screw-cap.

Let’s Taste – Delinquente 2015 Wines

The guys from Delinquente Wines got in touch with me through my website, asking if I’d be interested in tasting the new 2015 releases. With labels like these I was intrigued, so I had a taste and here are my impressions. Fruit is sourced from the Ricca Terra Farms vineyards in Riverland, and as many would know I love Italian grapes.

Let’s Taste – Dell’Uva Wines with The Intrepid Wino

After running a successful commercial nursury for many years, importing countless alternative varieties in to Australia, Wayne Farquhar launched his Dell’Uva Wines brand quite recently. I visited his vineyard in the Barossa Valley in 2013 and tasted some wines in tank, so I was thrilled when he visited Melbourne and gave me some bottles to try. Here are my impressions.
