I’m always grateful to receive samples from Heartland Wines from the #LanghorneCreek region, as much as I appreciate the opportunity to look at alternative varieties and interesting blends. The #ForeignCorrespondent 2018 encompasses all three of these things, being a blend of Dolcetto and Lagrein, two varieties you are highly unlikely to see together in Italy being that they are from different regions. Here are my impressions of this wine, let me know what your thoughts are, or if you’ve seen these varieties together before!
Heartland ‘Foreign Correspondent’ Dolcetto Lagrein 2018 – RRP $25.00
The name of this wine (plus the recommended retail price) clearly indicates that this is the top wine for Heartland, a blend of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz from the Langhorne Creek in South Australia. I was honoured to be able to taste this wine, let me know what you think in the comments below!
Heartland ‘one’ 2015 – RRP $72.00
The next wine in a series looking at Heartland Wines from Langhorne Creek in South Australia, this time it is an estate wine, and arguably the most important variety that Ben Glaetzer works with. Let me know what you think in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you!
Heartland Shiraz 2015 – RRP $19.00
This isn’t the first time I’ve looked at a wine from Heartland Wines, nor is it the first time I’ve looked at this wine, though it was the previous vintage. Ben Glaetzer is doing an incredible job in the Langhorne Creek, and I’m thrilled to get a chance to see what he can craft to a particular price point. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
Heartland ‘Spice Trader’ Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 – RRP $17.00
I was recently sent a sample from Heartland Wines, this time looking at a more premium wine from their range than I had seen before. Let me know what you think in the comments below, have you tried many Australian malbec wines?
Heartland ‘First Release’ Malbec 2016 – RRP $50.00
I’ve tasted some Heartland wines on Let’s Taste before, and in this case it was exciting to look at a step up in their range, being the Cabernet Sauvignon. Ben Glaetzer is a highly respected winemaker, and does an incredible job with the Heartland wines, let me know what you think in the comments below.
Heartland Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 – RRP $19.99
When I was recently contacted by Heartland Wines with the offer of samples, I gratefully jumped at the opportunity. Heartland Wines are made by Ben Glaetzer – a name synonymous with quality – and come from the Langhorne Creek region. The Spice Trader range are very much a value proposition. These are my impressions, let me know what you think in the comments below!
Heartland ‘Spice Trader’ Shiraz 2014 – RRP $16.99
Heartland ‘Spice Trader’ Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 – RRP $16.99
Heartland ‘Spice Trader’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 – RRP $16.99
A little while ago, Vanessa Altmann from Switch Wine was in Melbourne, and I had the opportunity to sit down with her, taste some of the new release wines, and also record a chat about her background. These are my impressions.
Let’s Taste Switch Wine
Vanessa Altmann has worked at Temple Bruer in Langhorne Creek for many years and has been very influenced by their approach to organic viticulture. Not long ago she began to buy some parcels of fruit for herself, crafting them into very unique and contemporary styles of wine under the Switch Wine name. She joined me on this special bonus episode of The Vincast recently, and she also showed me some of the new releases for my YouTube channel IntrepidWino.
