I was given a bottle each of the 2009 and 2010 vintages of the Carlei Estate Nebbiolo by Dave Carlei today, and I was keen to see how the two vintages looked.

I bought a bottle of the Out of Step Syme on Yarra Chardonnay 2014 from Rathdowne Cellars for Saturday night Netflix with the girlfriend, and cracked the seal to have a look at it.
At home for dinner I had a look in the Intrepid Cellar, I pulled out two iconic Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon wines and did a Let’s Tate comparison. The first wine was the Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2000, which I bought some years ago on Langtons. The second was the Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2000, which I bought at a local bottle shop. I was out for dinner with my girlfriend at one of my favourite locals – Pinotta – and I ordered a bottle off the list that I’ve been eager to try ever since having Tessa Brown as a guest on The Vincast. Here are my very impromptu impressions of the wine, which did open up lovely over the course of dinner. Have a listen back to the episode with Tess here, to hear all about Jeremy and her project in Beechworth.
Following up on a video a week ago, I opened one of my bottles of Chapter Shiraz 2014 that I bought at the Boomtown Winter Wine Launch. Jarad Curwood made this wine, and I hope to have him on The Vincast wine podcast very soon.
I opened my bottle of Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 1995 from the Intrepid Cellar, and recorded my impressions, talking a bit about Margaret River, the Jimmy Watson Trophy, and mature cabernet sauvignon wines. In spite of the amazing wine knife made by Code 38, I need to improve my technique with these older bottles as the corks are more fragile and can break.
A few weeks ago I went to the Boomtown Wine Cooperative Winter Launch, and picked myself up some bottles. I opened up the 2015 White for dinner at my girlfriends place, and recorded my thoughts on it.

I was at my parents place, which meant I had access to my cellar, and so I opened up a few wines from the ’90s. First I opened and tasted the Penfolds Bin 389 1996, then the Seville Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1999.
